AtaBank OJSC implemented the “MasterCard Contactless” functionality on its new “MasterCard” plastic cards. POS-terminals that belong to AtaBank and installed in partner network are programmed and ready to accept contactless cards.

It was reported by Mr. Elnur Osmanov, Member of the Board – Executive Director of the AtaBank OJSC. As he said, POS-terminals of AtaBank will be able to accept “MasterCard Contactless” cards. AtaBank OJSC is the Principal Member of “MasterCard Europe SPRL” since 2013. Being the biggest bank-acquirer in Azerbaijan AtaBank will gradually activate contactless payments throughout the POS-terminals network.

MasterCard Country Manager Hakan Acar stated: ”Consumers around the world are embracing contactless payment experience more and more each day. We are very proud to partner with AtaBank, as it is one of the largest acquirers  in Azerbaijan, to expand the use of MasterCard contactless payment service to consumers across the country. We look forward to providing more contactless payments opportunities for cardholders, through a wider range of MasterCard-enabled cards and devices.” 

Number of cards issued by AtaBank is almost 26 000. Bank has 78 ATMs and 18 567 POS-terminals.
